Security Updates
Three critical security patches were released for AlmaLinux OS 9:
- CVE-2024-6387 (regreSSHion) - OpenSSH vulnerability patched same-day on July 1st
- CVE-2024-6409 - Signal handler race condition in OpenSSH addressed
- The team proactively built these updates independently, with support from the newly-formed ALESCo technical steering committee
Sponsorship Announcements

Technical Development
- Testing needed for a glibc regression affecting VFX community software on Enterprise Linux 9.4
- ELevateNG (Next Generation) scheduled to move from testing to stable release the week of August 5th
- Significant automation improvements made to cloud, container, and live media image creation
CentOS 7 Transition Support
Following CentOS 7’s end-of-life on June 30th, AlmaLinux provided migration guidance for users seeking upgrade alternatives to CentOS Stream.
