New on the AlmaLinux Blog

What Should AlmaLinux Do Next? Tell Us!

We’re really proud of all the work our community has put into AlmaLinux. Now we want to know: what should we work on next? We have put together a survey to gather feedback from the community about what is working, what is missing, and what changes would be the most meaningful to our users.

Take the 5 minute survey and learn more in this blog post.

Atomic AlmaLinux Moves to the Latest bootc Tooling

The Atomic SIG has just released v13 of atomic-ci, and it’s the biggest change to our build tooling in quite some time! This release was about catching up with where bootc is today, and the tooling keeps evolving.

If you want to learn more about the recent changes and what’s next, read this blog post.

Meet the New 2026 Board Members

Please join us in welcoming Tristan Théroux and Muuhh (Munehiro) Ikeda to the AlmaLinux OS Foundation board! We’re so happy to have them both, and we’re also so appreciative of the AlmaLinux community’s participation in this first election under our new bylaws.

Even with only two candidates for two open seats, we still had a quorum to meet to validate the election. We passed that milestone within hours of the election opening!

Learn more in this blog post.

Software Certification Is Here, and Hardware Certification Takes Under 10 Minutes

The certification process has gotten a big revamp! You can now certify software for AlmaLinux, not just hardware. In addition, process improvements made by the Certification SIG have made it so that hardware certification now should take less than 10 minutes.

Learn more and give it a try! Check out this blog post.

AlmaLinux 9.9 Beta Now Available!

We’re proud to announce the availability of AlmaLinux 9.9 Beta “Chartreuse Bobcat” for all supported architectures! AlmaLinux 9.9 Beta introduces new compiler toolsets, new module streams, and improved security. This release also adds GCC Toolset 16 alongside updated LLVM and Rust toolsets, and brings Node.js 26 and PHP 8.4 as new module streams.

A usual reminder: this is a BETA release. It should not be used for production installations.
