Key Highlights
Upcoming Event: AlmaLinux Day: Vancouver is scheduled for August 9th, preceding SIGGRAPH. The complimentary ticket provides a full day of talks, networking, meals, and exclusive gifts for attendees focused on the VFX community.
Community Engagement: The organization launched a community survey to gather feedback without implementing telemetry, requesting approximately five minutes of user time to help shape AlmaLinux’s future direction.
Infrastructure Milestones: The EPEL x86-64-v2 rebuild for AlmaLinux OS 10 Stable is now complete and available for use, following the successful May launch for AlmaLinux Kitten 10.
Security Updates
Two vulnerabilities received patches during June:
libblockdev (CVE-2025-6019): A local privilege escalation flaw affecting AlmaLinux 8, 9, 10, and Kitten 10. ALESCo approved expedited patching given potential severity.
open-vm-tools (CVE-2025-22247): A moderate-severity vulnerability impacting VMware virtual machines across all supported AlmaLinux versions. Patches were released to stable repositories as of June 18, 2025.
