Key Highlights
AlmaLinux released two major versions this month. Version 9.6 “Sage Margay” is available across multiple architectures including x86_64, ARM64, PowerPC, and IBM Z systems. The organization also launched version 10.0 “Purple Lion,” which maintains RHEL 10 compatibility while introducing targeted improvements.
Development Updates
The team completed EPEL package builds for AlmaLinux OS Kitten 10, including x86_64_v2 support. Additional work on extended architecture support continues as the community prepares for the stable 10.0 release.
Community Events
AlmaLinux Day: Vancouver will occur August 9, 2025, coinciding with Academy Open Source days and SIGGRAPH. The call for speakers closes June 23rd. The organization plans conference appearances throughout 2025, including Flock to Fedora, DevConf, Southeast Linux Fest, nerdearla, All Things Open, and SC25.
Governance
Board elections are scheduled for August 2025. Interested candidates must submit membership applications by May 31st to participate.
