The event space at E-Central Downtown Los Angeles Hotel

We have a venue! AlmaLinux Day: Los Angeles will take place Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the E-Central Downtown Los Angeles Hotel at 1020 S Figueroa St — and you can register now.

These are the seats waiting for you. The room is real, the date is locked, and there’s enough space for a great conversation but not enough for everyone who’ll want in — which brings us to the rest of the announcement.

Why this venue

We wanted somewhere that was easy to get to, comfortable to spend a full day in, and within rolling distance of everything happening the rest of SIGGRAPH week. E-Central checks all three boxes.

It is, quite literally, steps from the LA Convention Center — no shuttles, no rideshare math at 8am. The Crypto.com Arena, LA Live, the Grammy Museum, and the Peacock Theater are all within walking distance, which makes the area easy to enjoy when the sessions wrap. The rooms are contemporary, the wellness center is brand new, and the hotel is set up for people who need the day to be efficient and the evening to feel like Los Angeles.

Stay where the event is

If you are coming in from out of town, the easiest move is to book a room at E-Central and make it your home base for the entire week. You can walk to AlmaLinux Day on Saturday, walk to SIGGRAPH for the rest of the week, and skip the daily commute entirely.

There are two ways to book:

The SIGGRAPH housing block is usually the path of least resistance if you are already registering for SIGGRAPH; booking direct gives you flexibility on dates and room type.

Register now — space is limited

Only 100 free-gift slots. The room is capped. Don’t sleep on this.

Attending AlmaLinux Day: LA is free, but we have a hard cap on the room and we will hit it. The first 100 registrants also get a special gift, so this is one of those events where registering early actually pays off.

Call for Speakers — open through June 5

Our Call for Speakers is still open, and we’d love to hear from you. If you are working on something in VFX pipelines, cloud rendering, Linux infrastructure, or open-source in Media & Entertainment — or you have a story about AlmaLinux in production that the community would learn from — submit a proposal.

The Vancouver lineup last year set the bar. “AlmaLinux for Always-On VFX Pipelines”, “Linux in VFX: A Panel on Pain, Power, and Progress”, “A Strategic Playbook for Large-Scale Linux Migrations”, and the “KDE, NVIDIA, and AlmaLinux OS 10.1” workshop sat alongside hard-won practical talks on container monitoring and workstation security — the unglamorous, load-bearing work that quietly keeps studios shipping. (Watch the full Vancouver playlist on YouTube.)

We’d love to see more of that this year. Some areas we are particularly hungry for:

  • Render farms and pipelines at scale — always-on architectures, queueing and scheduling, hybrid on-prem/cloud, the TCO math you actually use to make the case to finance.
  • Migration stories from the trenches — CentOS, RHEL, or anything else → AlmaLinux. What broke, what didn’t, what you’d do differently if you had to do it again.
  • Security and CVE response — workstation hardening, vulnerability response in production, kernel patching strategies, what your incident timeline really looks like.
  • Containers and orchestration for studios — monitoring, observability, image management, the operational pieces that don’t get pitched at the bigger conferences.

Submissions close June 5, 2026. Speakers will be notified by June 6, with the schedule announced June 15 — plenty of time to book your travel and your room at E-Central.

Can’t wait to see you in LA.
