Major Releases

AlmaLinux 9.4 “Seafoam Ocelot” and AlmaLinux 8.10 “Cerulean Leopard” both became available in May. Both versions restored support for more than 10 device drivers that had been disabled in RHEL, collectively extending compatibility to over 140 devices. Restored drivers include support for:

  • Dell and Adaptec RAID controllers
  • Emulex adapters (iSCSI and Fibre Channel)
  • HP Smart Array controllers
  • Mellanox Gen2 and ConnectX-2 adapters
  • QLogic Fibre Channel and iSCSI HBAs
  • Broadcom MegaRAID SAS controllers

New Governance Structure

The AlmaLinux Engineering Steering Committee (ALESCo) was introduced to guide the technical direction of the project. This committee comprises engineers actively developing and utilizing AlmaLinux.

New Special Interest Group

A High Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence SIG was established to support emerging use cases in these domains.

Community Engagement

Featured video content included presentations from Art of Server (discussing why they chose AlmaLinux) and Dmitry Lambert Tech (demonstrating ELevate upgrades from CentOS 7).

Upcoming Events

The foundation announced participation in multiple conferences through November, including Southeast Linux Fest, SIGGRAPH, FOSSY, Flock to Fedora, Ohio Linux Fest, and SC (Supercomputing). Community volunteers were actively recruited to staff booths.
